The heir to a family fortune discovers that a curse has been placed on it, put there centuries before by a band of samurai warriors. As graceful and beautiful as Japanese cinema can be, there are many directors and films that do not shy away from graphic violence and gore. The depiction of the slaughter by the villagers in this movie is intense, almost hideous, but id does make the curse all the more frightening and real. This is definitely not a film for the squeamish, but nonetheless, and very fine ride.
