This match took place in the second round of CZW's inaugural Best of the Best Tournament. After the two worked together to eliminate 'Sick' Nick Mondo in the first round, they were forced to face off for the chance to compete in the semi-finals. Most say (and I would agree) this match stole the show and catapulted them into the indie-wrestling spotlight.

When ROH first started up, it ran its first 5 shows in Philadelphia. Unfortunately for Mark Briscoe, Philadelphia child labor laws prevented him from wrestling at 17 years old. Mark accompanied Jay to the ring for the first 5 shows and watched his brother lose all but 1 match, eventually walking out on him. ROH eventually made its way up to Boston, where Mark would finally have the chance to compete. He chose to face his brother.

Their Honor Invades Boston match developed into a feud which saw Mark join The Prophecy for a short time. It culminated in a match at ROH's First Anniversary Show, advertised to be their "last one-on-one match ever."

I didn't even know about this match before I started putting this collection together. And I couldn't tell you anything about the promotion apart from it being in Delaware. However, I can tell you this. In early 2004, Mark Briscoe was in a motorcycle accident that took him out of wrestling for over a year and a half. Jay Briscoe didn't want to wrestle without his brother, so the two took a sabbatical until mid-2005, not even returning to ROH until 2006. This has to be one of Mark's first matches back, and one of the two's hardest hitting.

The Fifth Year Festival was a big series of shows for the Briscoes. They beat Steenerico in Philly to become #1 contenders to Christopher Daniels & Matt Sydal's ROH Tag Team Titles. The following weekend in Chicago, they began their third, and shortest, world tag team title reign. The Briscoes would lose those titles in their very first defense against Naruki Doi & Shingo. This match is a "warm-up" match set up by the brothers to motivate them in their rematch for the titles.
